Antique Oak Board Stock Specifications

APPEARANCE AND CHARACTER

•  All lumber is 100% authentic antique oak reclaimed from agricultural, industrial and residential structures.  The age of the structures ranges from the 1840's - 1940's.

•  All lumber may include character marks such as: knots, nail holes, checks (cracks), original milling marks, insect marks, color variations, varying grain patterns.

•  This is Not Resawn Oak, but rough, weathered both sides.

TALLIES AND YIELD

•  All lumber is standardized and graded to yield Ύ” net flooring.

•  All lumber is sold in specific width ranges: 4" - 6"; 6" - 8"; 8" - 12".

•  All lumber is sold in random length ranges starting at 4' with the majority of the lumber being in
the 8' - 12' range.

•  All width ranges are based on an approximate 1" yield loss. We grade a rough board for yield (the net
width it should make for a floor blank). We expect a common allowance of ½” for a tongue. This means
our rough 4" - 6" range will yield random amounts of 3", 4", and 5" face, finished flooring blanks, and so on
for all ranges.

•  We do not guarantee a waste factor percentage per order or per unit. Our customers average
approximately 25% waste loss from start of process to a finished blank. This is only an estimate since
manufacturers defecting standards vary.

•  The 4" - 6" range tends to have a higher waste factor. We may include wide boards in this width range
with excessive checking or other issues, but which will yield acceptable narrower width boards.

•  All units are block tallied unless otherwise noted.

•  8/4 stock is calculated and priced as 1" or 2" depending on yield. A customer may receive an 8/4 joist that cannot be split, and will yield only one acceptable 4/4 board. If so, we charge for only a 4/4 yield on that joist. The total unit board foot tally will reflect this.

METAL AND DENAILING

•  All lumber is metal detected (unless otherwise noted). We do not guarantee 100% accuracy. We are
normally quite accurate, however, our expectation is for the customer to put our units directly into a dry kiln and afterwards scan before processing.

PACKING AND BUNDLING

•  All units are 45" - 48" wide.

•  All units have a board foot total and inventory number on each unit. Each unit’s inventory number and
board foot tally will be noted on the customer’s invoice.

•  All lumber is stacked on ½” sticks so as to be ready for the dry kiln when it is delivered
