One of the last "independent" sugar refineries in the country, Revere Sugar Refinery (once owned by Antonio Floriendo, a Marcos family confidant known as the "Banana King of the Philippines") declared bankruptcy in 1985. The property had been in magnificent ruins since then, with a subsequent fire devastating it further. Much of the refinery had been demolished by 2007, leaving this last 5 story brick and timber structure the last standing remnant of this part of Red Hook's history.
